OUR TEAM

Here at mBark lives a small team of creators, explorers and dreamers. We believe that peoples lives are improved when a space is  purposefully designed for the way they live.

OUR THOUGHTS

Mark

If I wasn't designing buildings I'd be ?

Travelling as a flight attendant, being surrounded by inspiration.

You'll never see me?

Including a 'mancave' in a home design!

My favourite supplier for unique building products is?

Urbaneline who produce cost effective unique exterior claddings that set buildings apart.

My greatest architect or design crush is?

Tadao Ando a self taught architect

A past or present design trend I loathe?

Decorative adornment with no purpose.

A quote I tend to live by?

You should always surround yourself with people who bring out the best in you.

If I were only allowed to design with one shape it would be?

A rectangle as it allows for separation of spaces.

My personal decadent splurge in a home would be?

Bang and Olufsen sound system.

Am I a collector or minimalist?

minimalist, I always make sure my homes don't have enough storage for unnecessary hoarding.

Common design misconception I try to dispel is.

That people need more storage than is necessary.

If someone was to buy me a design gift for less than $100, they should shop?

At the MCA gift shop.

OUR THOUGHTS

Barb

If I wasn't designing buildings I'd be ?

Excavating an archaeological dig to see what I missed.

You'll never see me?

Wearing purple!

My favourite supplier for unique building products is?

Axolotl, they design and supply incredible metal finishes to doors, screens, sculptures..

My greatest architect or design crush is?

Lloyd Wright, who maintained structures should be in harmony with nature and humanity

A past or present design trend I loathe?

Micro suede fabric on sofas, or anything else!!

A quote I tend to live by?

Those who don't believe in magic, will never find it.

If I were only allowed to design with one shape it would be?

A square, they are natures building block.

My personal decadent splurge in a home would be?

Tall doors. Adore them. They change space perception.

Am I a collector or minimalist?

I don't have collections as such, I have groupings of important pieces, with a very strict  'one in - one out' policy.

A common design misconception I try to dispel is.

That putting a random colour on a random wall is a feature. It isn't, and the purpose of colour should be to both liven and improve the balance of a space.

If someone was to buy me a design gift for less than $100, they should shop?

At a Jo Malone candle store.
